Tranquil Holidays!

Thoughtfully designed by Quirk Studio and Isprava, Villa H in Goa is a holiday home that offers a perfect retreat to unwind and rejuvenate.

As the pandemic reshaped perspectives worldwide, individuals began reevaluating their priorities and seeking a more balanced way of life. Recognizing the need for quality time with loved ones and a deeper connection with nature, a Mumbai-based family involved in the textile industry decided to invest in a holiday home situated amidst the serene greenery of Goa. Designed by Quirk Studio and offered by Isprava, this home stands amidst a tranquil forest, emanating an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The family now enjoys ample space to unwind and rejuvenate, engaging in activities that bring them joy and allow them to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding them. Whether it’s diving into the refreshing pool, embarking on invigorating hikes in the nearby hills, or simply reveling in the serenity of the countryside, the holiday home offers an ideal retreat.

The holiday home’s layout has been carefully planned to offer convenience and functionality. The ground floor comprises a living area, dining space, kitchen, dry powder room, and a bedroom. Moving upstairs, the first floor features a master bedroom, a guest room, and a serene terrace area adorned with houseplants, creating a harmonious balance within the residence. The design seamlessly integrates with the outdoors, providing glimpses of the surrounding greenery through a verandah along the pool area, a cozy terrace, and large windows with paneled doors. This connection with nature allows natural light and fresh air to permeate the home, accentuated by the double-height volume, resulting in a bright and airy ambiance throughout.

Upon entering the holiday home, the carefully planned spatial layout provides tantalizing glimpses of the living room and deck. The expansive living area seamlessly flows into the seating and dining spaces, offering captivating views of the surrounding landscape from three sides. The interior design showcases a neutral color palette with white walls, complemented by a natural river-finish Kota flooring that remains pleasantly cool during the summer months, evoking a tropical getaway atmosphere.

One of the standout features of the home is a sunroof adorned with a suspended chandelier, adding a touch of luxury and dynamically transforming the ambiance throughout the day. Beneath this elegant centerpiece, a comfortable ensemble consisting of sofas, a lounge chair, and an ottoman creates a cozy sitting area, perfect for hosting large gatherings and entertaining guests.

To balance the muted color palette, the room is adorned with distressed timber furniture, infusing a sense of warmth into the space. Vintage charm is channeled through the texture of the pedestal-supported dining table and the cane-backed chairs that surround it. Acting as a focal point, a custom IPS shelving unit showcases memorabilia and locally sourced artifacts, anchoring the home in cherished memories and nostalgic elements.

Adding a playful touch, chequered, striped, and floral prints adorn the upholstery of the sofas and dining chairs, as well as the cushion covers and ornate lamp shades. These prints inject a sense of liveliness and visual interest into the space. Furthermore, artworks depicting lush landscapes serve as a reminder of the importance of establishing a close connection with nature.

The living room features Kota flooring, bordered with black tiles along its edges. This flooring seamlessly extends into the staircase, where a printed tile with a classic design serves as the riser. Wooden balustrades in a rhythmic pattern guide one to the first floor, where the designers explore various decorative elements. To celebrate the essence of Goa, locally sourced jute rugs are used as art pieces on the landing wall. The landing leads to the bedrooms and a terrace.

The master bedroom has a simple layout and accommodates a home office. Aligned with the overall aesthetic of the residence, the room boasts neutral walls and playful Bharat Flooring Tiles in white and mint green stripes. Minimal furniture creates a dreamy ambiance, with an in-situ cast IPS desk extending to form the bed, complete with bedside shelves. Vibrant elements, such as framed artwork on the wall, miniature pieces displayed in a recessed arch behind the study area, and a cleverly placed green ladder, serve as eye-catching art pieces. A walk-in wardrobe features storage units with cane inserts sandwiched between glass shutters, leading to the master bath with mint green tiles on the lower half of the walls, framing a classic wooden vanity.

Both guest bedrooms maintain the timeless aesthetic with neutral walls adorned with cane and clay art pieces. The ground floor guest room showcases printed flooring tiles with a centrally positioned bed. The furniture incorporates black polished wood complemented by rattan in the bed-back. Locally sourced cane baskets continue the visual theme of the room. Adjacent to the bedside table, a white door reveals a surprising element—the bathroom. Departing from the neutral aesthetic, the space showcases terrazzo flooring paired with a yellow Jaisalmer stone on the lower half of the walls, transitioning into the vanity area.

The outdoor spaces, including the open terrace and poolside verandah, provide an escape from the confines of Mumbai’s city life. The terrace on the first floor is designed to create a distinct outdoor experience, featuring weatherproof and minimalist IPS structures, partially shaded by a sloping shed with Mangalore roof tiles. IPS seating in an L-shaped configuration, adorned with printed cushions, lines an IPS bar equipped with cane bar-chairs, creating an inviting setting for intimate gatherings.

On the other hand, the semi-covered verandah is layered with black and white anti-skid tiles, enhancing the functionality of the captivating blue pool. The space offers various seating options to accommodate different moods and purposes, including a lounge area for morning breakfast, a traditional charpai for an afternoon nap, and a set of pool chairs for basking in the sun.

With Villa ‘H’, Quirk Studio seamlessly blends its distinctive trademark with a classic Isprava home. The neutral color palette, natural materials, subtle prints, locally sourced art pieces, and abundant green plants combine to create a serene home that celebrates minimalism. Through a thoughtful and deliberate approach, the designers have crafted a dynamic holiday home that embraces the gentle poetry of sunlight, inviting fresh air, and cherishing the small and slow moments of life.
