Designed for a client seeking a serene retreat with panoramic mountain views, this ground-up residence spans the highest point of a 35-acre property, offering a seamless blend of nature and architecture.
A Harmonious Fusion of Earth and Sky
The design of Hudson Valley Residence II seamlessly integrates custom-stained cedar siding with expansive glass panels, creating a transparent connection to the surrounding landscape. This architectural marvel, inspired by the simplicity of agricultural structures, harmonizes with the natural elements, capturing the hues of the earth and sky.
Defining Spaces with Light
Through meticulous design, the residence captures the essence of daylight, creating natural separations and boundaries within its open floorplan. Floor-to-ceiling windows and an elongated skylight strategically capture the morning and evening sun, defining distinct areas within the home.
Transparent Boundaries and Intimate Spaces
The interior layout, characterized by 11.5-foot ceilings and one-room deep spaces, challenges traditional open-plan expectations. Natural light delineates spaces during the day, while carefully placed artificial lighting enhances the ambiance at night.
