Designed by RECS Architects, the design of the Minsk Airport’s Innovative Private Jet Terminal serves as an exposition of a contemporary aesthetic which imbues the space with a relaxed and elegant quality.
Airports serve as more than mere entry and exit points for cities and nations; to a significant extent, they shape the initial impression in the minds of tourists and represent the culture and identity of the nation to its citizens. The design of Minsk Airport’s new private jet terminal, crafted by Recs Architects, strives to meet these criteria. This terminal serves as a gateway for international elites, where the authentic essence of Belarus is experienced both upon arrival and departure.
The terminal encompasses a reception hall, lounge, bar, meeting room, washroom, roof-floor corridor, and VIP saloon. The design syntax is contemporary which imbues the space with a relaxed and elegant quality. A notable feature of the interior design is the creation of a highly evocative entrance hall. The scenography of the entrance wall, situated behind the reception, extends its artistic influence throughout the surrounding environment, yielding a fresh and impressive result.
From a central staircase in the lobby, brass balustrades extend to the circular division within the lounge on the floor above, unifying the entire space and subtly evoking the metallic ambiance of an aeronautical machine.
The expansive main hall is bathed in light from a large globe suspended above, constructed with brass profiles that echo those of the grand spiral staircase at the hall’s center. Directly opposite the globe, a wind rose is intricately drawn with marble and brass inlays on the floor.
In the meeting room, the reflective surface of the oval table, finished in black mirror, captures and refracts the ambient light from suspended bulbs, resulting in a dynamic and ever-changing effect.
After disembarking from the elevator on the roof floor, a glass corridor resembling a skywalk, surrounded by picturesque landscapes, leads to the VIP saloon. This space is distinguished by its fireplace and expansive window, offering breathtaking views of the landing strip. The project’s definitive design was initiated in 2018, and it was formally submitted in 2019. Construction at the site commenced during the pandemic, a time when the entire world ground to a halt, and travel restrictions posed significant challenges to the aviation industry, subsequently affecting the global economy.”
After the lockdown, as international travel resumed, the airport once again became fully operational. The design garnered significant appreciation from passengers, a majority of whom are global travelers. Their approval serves as strong validation of the firm’s work. In designing the new private jet terminal at Minsk Airport, RECS Architects have demonstrated their understanding of the importance of the environments and spaces created for fostering international communication and economic development. Their mission is to ‘create a better life for people.
