An architecturally bold residence shaped by context, guided by Vaastu, and infused with travel-inspired design – where innovative automation meets the poetry of timeless materials.

The UP House emerges as a multifaceted architectural narrative, shaped profoundly by its site context. Visualized through a composition of sharp edges and cuboidal forms, the house features dynamic facades that respond to environmental cues. One of the most striking elements is the ‘U’ projection – a deliberate architectural gesture that functions as a bench at level one, blending utility with visual identity.

At the ground level, the house is distinctly divided into three bays. The first bay is dedicated to public functions, encompassing the pooja space, dining area, and an open kitchen with cleverly concealed storage solutions. The second bay, the widest, houses the family living room. Here, the cuboidal volume has been sculpted inward, creating a lush indoor-outdoor connection.

This spatial intervention frames the longest visual axis, flanked by green spaces on either side, where a floating concrete stairwell subtly integrates into the surrounding landscape. The third bay is reserved for private quarters, containing the bedroom spaces for serene, uninterrupted retreat.

Guided by the principles of the Vaastu Purusha Mandala and informed by a sensitive analysis of solar and wind paths, the house promotes natural ventilation and optimizes daylight throughout the day. The spatial experience is defined by a series of interlocking volumes and an eclectic interior style set within an open floor plan.

Inspired by global journeys, the residence captures the spirit of iconic landscapes – from the timeless charm of Europe to the awe-inspiring terrain of the Grand Canyon. It is a home crafted as a repository of memories, translated into a futuristic, design-forward language that pays homage to the past while embracing the aspirations of tomorrow.

With the client hailing from the lighting and automation industry, the design team was afforded the opportunity to experiment boldly with functional elements. Innovations include automation switchboard pods, a 360-degree rotating step wardrobe, a zen hardscape garden beneath the staircase, a floating courtyard bench, and a custom red canyon-inspired TV unit that transforms into a study table. These bespoke elements reflect a philosophy where design becomes art – manifested through modernist furniture and spatial experiences rather than traditional canvases.

A distinctive choice of Alaskan White marble flooring enables a fluid dialogue between contrasting materials like glass, natural veneer, and exposed concrete. This deliberate material palette nurtures a continuous spatial rhythm, capturing the very essence of the UP House – a residence envisioned as an elevated lifestyle statement. Every detail is meticulously designed to inspire, uplift, and embody sophistication, presenting a seamless fusion of art, memory, and modern living.
