A residential apartment in Indirapuram has been reborn as the creative hub for one of India’s popular indie bands, Twinstrings. This dynamic space seamlessly blends cutting-edge audio technology with a design that perfectly captures the band’s vibrant energy. Known for their soulful renditions and unique original music, Twinstrings’ creativity takes centre stage in this studio, nestled within the buzz of a residential block.
The studio’s design revolves around a bold and cohesive visual identity – anchored by a rich, deep charcoal hue with wooden accents that envelop the entire space. This striking colour palette creates a unified canvas, allowing the band’s creativity to shine and offering an immersive environment for music-making.
One of the key challenges in designing this space was eliminating sound bleeding. The studio features sound-isolated flooring and an aluminum grid ceiling insulated with foam sheets, fortifying the exterior with double-layered windows and cavity walls. The flooring was raised with sandbags, and PU foam insulation crowns the ceiling, ensuring the studio is shielded from any external noise. Inside, a complex nine-layer system of glass wool, cavity walls, and fabric quilting guarantees a pristine recording experience.
In contrast to the typical corporate studio design, this space embraces a relaxed, informal zoning. A black aluminum ceiling grid and oakwood flooring ground the design, while hidden cable trays prevent the chaos of wires from interfering with jam sessions. Diffused lighting adds an ethereal glow, creating an ideal backdrop for performances, live broadcasts, and recording sessions. The pantry, tucked away behind full-length blinds, ensures seamless integration, while wooden blinds in the meeting room absorb stray noise, maintaining the studio’s serenity.
Adaptability shines through in the design, with a bifold sliding aluminum door separating the meeting room from the rest of the space, offering privacy or an open stage for impromptu performances. Sheer curtains provide subtle divisions, creating a sense of intimacy, while the thoughtful placement of artwork and decor reflects Twinstrings’ artistic style. Versatile seating options and state-of-the-art recording equipment further enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal.
This studio is more than just a workspace; it’s a seamless fusion of innovative sound engineering and intentional design. Every element has been crafted to support Twinstrings’ creative journey. The walls themselves become part of the process, allowing music and design to intertwine and elevate one another in perfect harmony.
